Speaking of Wheel of Fortune (see yesterday's post), I have a story to tell about my Mother: Years ago, my parents came to visit for a week and we all fell into watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune in the evenings after supper. One night, it struck us that trying out to be a contestant on one of the shows might be a good route to fame and fortune. As we began to discuss the possibilities, my mother turned to me (specifically, I might add) and said, "Go for Wheel of Fortune. It doesn't require intelligence."Well!
I've never let her live that down.
